Celebrity cash floods in for ZhengzhouCentral Station | 23 Jul 2021
Donations from celebrities have poured in after devastating floods hit the central Chinese city of Zhengzhou, with some contributions reaching millions.
The chairman of Emperor Group, Albert Yeung Sau-shing, and his son Alexander Yeung Ching-loong donated 10 million yuan (HK$12 million) to support flood relief.
Artists signed under the group have also chipped in.
Local singer-actor Nicholas Tse Ting-fung and William Chan Wai-ting each donated 1 million yuan.
Charlene Choi Cheuk-yin and Gillian Chung Ka-lai (known by her stage name Chung Yan-tung), members of Hong Kong cantopop Twins, donated 500,000 and 300,000 yuan.
Many celebrities from the mainland also made donations. A former member of boy band EXO, Huang Zitao, sent 3 million yuan.
One of the highest-paid actresses in China, Yang Mi, gave 1 million yuan.
Taiwanese artists also joined in. TV actor Lin Ruiyang and his wife Zhang Ting put in 5 million yuan. Actor Wang Ta-lu, of the romantic-comedy film Our Times, gave 300,000 yuan.
