Some 100 Chinese University students will get HK$20,000 more to splash out this summer, as they have been awarded the Link University Scholarship for their outstanding achievements in being the first university student in their family in three generations. In total, 190 students across the city were awarded this year.
Other than some extra pocket money, they will also receive learning opportunities, including internships as well as community service and training workshops.
Aaron Lin Weijie, a fourth-year law student, has been awarded the Link Scholarship for four consecutive years. "The scholarship enables me to finally cut down my working hours and focus on my study. Thankfully, I succeeded in getting on the Dean's List and was able to receive other awards," he said.
Another recipient, Ron Lui Chun-kit, a second-year business student, entered CUHK after retaking his DSE exams.
The sophomore is now the president of the Volunteer Teaching Team at Chung Chi College and has established an online platform to share with fellow DSE students his knowledge on economics and his life at the university.
