Cathay food for thought at Penny's Bay

Central Station | 13 May 2021

A lawmaker has come up with a plan to solve the food gripes at Penny's Bay quarantine center: go to the food provider which supplies in-flight meals to Cathay Pacific.

After all, Penny's Bay is just round the corner from the airport, says Jeffrey Lam Kin-fung of the commercial sector.

Lam says he is pained that citizens have to suffer with terrible meals throughout their quarantine. The government must be flexible with its policy of awarding a contract to the lowest bidder, he says.

Lam suggests the government go to Cathay Pacific Catering, as its base is near the airport and close to Penny's Bay.

Citizens have complained that although the government replaced the meal provider after suspected food poisoning, the lunchboxes still taste bad. Spaghetti was plain, without any sauce and salt, as shown in the picture.
