Fallers in run to be first past post

Central Station | 10 May 2021

The sight of a swinging lamppost in Mong Kok was too much for three pedestrians passing nearby, and apparently believing it could be going their way they started running.

But in their madcap scramble to put some distance between themselves and the post two of them - a man and a woman - fell and were hurt.

Meanwhile, Highways Department workers and their truck-mounted crane finished the job of lowering the post to a spot where it could be taken away from the intersection of Argyle Street and Reclamation Street on Saturday morning. The fallen pair were bruised and treated by an ambulance crew but refused to be taken to hospital, perhaps after seeing the light about freaking out over an imaginary danger.
