Tourism officials are busy pushing the idea of "staycations" -- taking a break close to home amid travel restrictions and enjoying offers that present themselves when in a hotel.
The effort comes with the Tourism Board launching today a staycation discount package, when citizens can click for a HK$500 discount by spending at least HK$800 at retail or dining outlets.
The "Staycation Delights" program discount applies to all stays of one or two consecutive nights in a room at around 140 participating hotels.
Bookings start at 10 am tomorrow and close on May 31, and citizens can start checking the hotel list from today.
Participating hotels offer a variety of staycation themes for families, couples and gourmet food lovers. Apart from hotel room stays the packages offer 20,000 quotas for various rebates and discounts on eating, spa treatments and entertainment tickets.
The HK$800 spending, which should be done from March 26 to May 31, can be accumulated from at most two purchases, with original machine-printed receipts required. Machine-printed credit card receipts are not accepted.
