A rice noodle dish was the most popular takeaway item amid the Covid-19 pandemic last year.
Commissioned by online takeaway platform Deliveroo to check attitudes towards takeaway orders, Censuswide interviewed 1,000 Hongkongers last month and found Chinese, Japanese and US cuisines were favorites.
Seventy-eight percent of respondents said they ordered takeaways at least once a week since the start of the pandemic last year.
And people between 16 and 24 showed the biggest appetite for takeaways (13 percent) followed by those aged from 25 to 34. When it came to the 45-54 age group, more than 80 percent said they had ordered takeaways.
The common thread was that ordering in could beat cooking for themselves. Respondents spent an average of HK$1,324 on meals. And around two-thirds of the respondents said ordering takeaways from favorite eateries provided a serving of happiness.
No surprise then that 75 percent said they'd be calling back for more.
