Katy Kung Ka-yun, who won the TVB Anniversary Award for Most Popular Female Character, thanked her late grandfather for supporting her financially in quitting school for TVB.

After the award presentation ceremony on Sunday night, Kung said her grandfather paid her expensive school fees of a couple of hundred thousands per semester to attend the Academy for Performing Arts. Yet he still gave her support to quit school and join TVB.

"I dropped out of school mid-way to film dramas for TVB, which seems to me like wasting two semesters' worth of school fees," Kung said.

"My grandfather never doubted me and told me to go ahead with my decision," she said.

"Therefore, I really want to thank him for allowing me to be so willful."

Kung also said she believed her grandfather would be proud of her for receiving the award, and her grandmother at home will be delighted as well.
