Sparks fly in bidding war

Central Station | 19 Nov 2020

Things got a little heated during the Victoria Park Lunar New Year stall auction yesterday, when "Orchard King" Yeung Siu-lung got into an altercation with another bidder and had to be separated by Food and Environmental Health Department officers.

55 booths were auctioned off yesterday. Yeung wanted Booths 130 and 131, but lost the bids for them. He then turned his sights to Booth 132, which he won after almost 60 bids for a final price of HK$49,000, the second highest price among all booths in the fair.

Although Yeung won the bid, he was unhappy about paying a high price and swore at a woman who also wanted the booth, saying, "What's your problem with me?"

The two were eventually separated by more than 20 FEHD officers.
