Don't get jealous, Hongkongers - Macau permanent residents will be getting yet another cash handout of 10,000 patacas (about HK$9,700).
Chief Executive Ho Iat-seng announced the handout in his policy address yesterday. Non-permanent residents will also get a handout of 6,000 (about HK$5,800) patacas.
He added that other subsidies and social support plans will remain the same in 2021.
Macau has been giving out cash to its citizens annually since 2008, and next year will be the second consecutive year Macau citizens receive 10,000 patacas.
In contrast, the Hong Kong government appears to be more hesitant about handing out cash to its citizens.
But there might still be hope for a handout, as Chief Executive Carrie Lam Cheng Yuet-ngor will deliver her policy address on November 25.
