Wear your mask properly or you might be fined HK$2,000. That's what microbiologist Ho Pak-leung suggested earlier yesterday - but he ended up being way under the actual fine announced last night, which was HK$5,000.
Ho said on a radio show that the government should further tighten anti-epidemic measures and learn from Singapore's imposition of a fine on people who go out in public without a mask and those who wear their masks without covering their nose.
Ho said he had seen people refuse to wear masks in hospitals, taxis and shopping malls, and urged the government to punish such behavior.
Now with the new mask rule in effect, Hong Kong leader Carrie Lam Cheng Yuet-ngor may need to be extra careful, as she was spotted wearing a mask without covering her nose during a press conference earlier in the year.
