KFC debuts new meatless era

Central Station | 30 Jun 2020

Vegetarians are now welcome at KFC, as the fast-food chain has introduced meat-free burgers and nuggets at selected outlets yesterday.

The New Era burger is made from Gardein's chick'n patty, which contains soy, wheat, pea protein, organic grains and vegetables. As with normal burgers, it is topped with cheese, barbecue sauce, fresh lettuce, sliced tomatoes and tortilla chips.

Also new to the menu are the Alpha Foods' plant-based chicken nuggets made with soy and wheat protein.

But be aware that the new meatless options are fried in the same oil as other KFC products.

The new products are available at 19 selected outlets, including Admiralty, Central, Wan Chai, Causeway Bay, Tsim Sha Tsui, Mong Kok, Prince Edward, Tseung Kwan O and Sha Tin.

The burger retails at HK$49 a la carte, while the nuggets are priced at HK$29 for five pieces.

For those wanting to embrace the new era, a limited edition KFC x New Era 9FIFTY Snapback cap is also available for redemption from HK$319.
