Queen Elizabeth gets back on the horse

Central Station | 2 Jun 2020

Queen Elizabeth is taking on Covid-19 with a horse ride through the grounds of Windsor Castle - her first public appearance since the UK lockdown began.

She was photographed over the weekend riding a 14-year-old Fell Pony called Balmoral Fern.

The queen, 94, is a passionate horse lover and breeder of thoroughbred racehorses.

She has not been pictured riding since isolating at Windsor Castle 10 weeks ago, despite reports she has been taking daily rides.

She is said to slip out of a side door at Windsor Castle every morning in a headscarf, jodhpurs and riding boots to take a short drive to her beloved pony at Home Park.

Aware of the risk posed to her health by Covid-19, the queen makes the trip to the stables unaccompanied.
