Boxer Rex Tso Sing-yu has suffered a double blow.
He failed to finish in the top six of the Asia-Oceania Olympic Qualifier in Jordan, missing a chance to qualify for Tokyo 2020. Then he was on the same flight back to Hong Kong with a Macau confirmed Covid-19 case last week. He is now under a voluntary 14-day home quarantine.
Tso was on his way back after taking part in the Boxing Olympic Qualification in Amman, Jordan, from March 3 to 11. A 26-year-old Korean woman was confirmed with the coronavirus in Macau yesterday after arriving in Hong Kong last Friday on Emirates flight EK380 with the Hong Kong Boxing Team.
Team coach Tang Tsz-wai confirmed that coaches and team members are all in self-isolation now and they are in good health.
Tang added that the Hong Kong Boxing Association will arrange a virus test for the whole team later on.
Tso told the press upon arrival in Hong Kong that he was discriminated against for wearing a mask in Jordan.
