Flat price takes a coronavirus hit

Central Station | 11 Feb 2020

The property market seems to be one of the first victims of the virus outbreak. A property ad promoting a Whampoa Garden flat at a "coronavirus confirmation" discounted price went viral on social media.

The ad, put up by Ricacorp Properties last week, depicted a 389-square foot flat in Whampoa Garden, where two confirmed cases were reported.

One was Hong Kong's first fatality.

The ad said the flat owner was selling his property fast due to health concerns in light of the deadly pneumonia outbreak.

It also said the flat owner wanted to move out as soon as possible and discounted it to a "coronavirus confirmation" price of HK$6,000,000, or HK$15,424 per square foot.
