Nobel Cops get 'Peace Prize' tickCentral Station | Charlotte Luo 22 Oct 2019
Pro-Beijing group Politihk Social Strategic is looking at nominating the Hong Kong Police Force for next year's Nobel Peace Prize.
The move was announced on the group's Facebook page on Friday, several days after Hong Kong people were nominated for the same prize by a Norwegian parliamentarian, which was dismissed as "foreign interference" by Beijing.
The group's chairman, Tang Tak-shing, told China's state-run tabloid Global Times that the clashes in Hong Kong have not led to any deaths which shows "the restraint and professionalism of the police."
"We want to let the international community know through the nomination the actual situation in Hong Kong and the strong public support for the police force," Tang said.
He said the police have acted humanely and professionally.
The group reportedly will ask Hong Kong deputies to the National People's Congress to file the application before the deadline at the end of January.
