Healing space for youngsters created

Central Station | 17 Sep 2019

The doors are opening this month to a vibrant new space to improve the quality of life for young cancer patients and their families.

Providing for physical, psychological and social wellbeing is the aim of the Children's Cancer Foundation Lions Clubs Community Centre in Kowloon's So Uk Estate.

Art and innovative design is central in the push to complement and enhance programs. So every wall in the center is decorated with artwork and murals by local artists and the youngsters themselves to create an atmosphere so patients stay strong and positive throughout their courses of treatment.

Among facilities is a classroom called the Sunshine School for academic programs and art classes, a youth corner for relaxing and socializing, a kitchen for cooking classes, and a multi-function room that can be adapted to be a dance hall, yoga studio, lecture theater and a party room.
