Tuen Mun song and dance for dama return

Central Station | 16 Jul 2019

Protesters aren't defined by age, and this was evident when a group of senior citizens took to the street, for they want damas - middle-aged mainland female performers - back at Tuen Mun Park.

Damas had stopped performing in the park after a proposal to ban them following recent protests targeting them.

The senior and middle-aged men held banners that proclaimed "freedom for singing" and "singing is not a crime."

"I paid to touch the ladies' hands. Why can't I touch damas?" one said. Some protesters yelled, "please return, Nana," which is the name of a famous performer at the park.

A performer nicknamed Siu Hung returned yesterday, according to the Facebook page TuenMunParkHCG.

Over the past two weeks, high-profile performers have been avoiding the park due to the protests against them.
