Cutting to the facts

Central Station | 18 Apr 2019

Just to be correct - and not necessarily politically - we are pleased to pass on to readers comments from the City University regarding yesterday's column by Mary Ma headlined, "A pig's ear of political correctness."

A missive from its communications and public relations office insisted that CityU and its president Way Kuo have not forbidden roast pig cutting nor objected to eating meat.

It added: "Our decision is certainly not related to political correctness."

It then referred us to an announcement it made concerning the roast pig cutting ceremony held during the opening of its Veterinary Medical Centre, which stated: " the senior management team will now request all CityU departments to consider canceling roast pig cutting and other similar rites at celebration activities in the future."

We're happy to clear that one up.
