"The world's most advanced robot" is being unveiled in Hong Kong at this year's HKTDC Entrepreneur Day.

Mark Mak, founder and chief technical officer of Roborn Dynamics, said the ME-1 robot can spare human beings the danger of dangerous jobs, like removing bombs or doing tasks in high-electricity environments.

The robot is to be presented at the Trade Development Council event that opens today at the Hong Kong Convention and Exhibition Centre.

Mak said that with a motion sensor, anyone can control every movement of the robot, even by simply flexing a finger, just like manipulating robots in sci-fi movies.

He said a British firm wants to buy his robot's arms to disarm bombs, while an American firm wants to buy the robot to do high electricity pressure work. Each robot costs about US$20,000 (HK$156,000)

Apart from handling risky jobs, the robot can also be deployed for educational and industrial purposes, Mak said.

Over 270 exhibitors from the US and other countries are at the event.
