More than HK$1 million worth of drugs have been seized from a Kwai Chung building after it was discovered when a 23-year-old man plunged to his death.

The man surnamed Le, a suspected Wo Shing Wo triad society member who had a criminal record of drug trafficking, lived with his 18-year-old girlfriend, surnamed Leung, and their child in a 13th floor flat in Kam Shek Building on Shek Yam Road. He had been wanted by police, sources said.

Le was found unconscious on the building's podium on Tuesday night and declared dead at the scene.

Three women, including the girlfriend and their friends, 20-year-old Ng and 23-year-old Wong, were arrested on suspicion of trafficking in dangerous drugs on the same night. The three were still being detained for questioning as of last night.

The man, sources said, quarreled with Leung in the flat, after which the girlfriend left with their child.

Le then took the lift to the rooftop of the 22-story building, judging from CCTV footage, before jumping to his death, police said.

A resident reported to police at 8.32pm that a man was found lying on the podium.

Police and ambulance men said the man was already dead when they arrived.

Several vehicles carrying some 20 people, suspected to be Le's associates, arrived at the building. The men were later seen pacing back and forth near the entrance and yelling. They later fled without further incident.

Police cordoned off the building's entrances and constables with shields went up to the 13th floor. They saw Le's girlfriend arriving and was handed a set of keys by the two other women, police said.

The three were intercepted as Leung tried to get into the flat. Inside, police found drugs worth over HK$1 million, including packaged cannabis buds, cocaine and ketamine. The three women were arrested.

No suicide note was found in the flat, police said, adding they were investigating why Le killed himself. Police said the cause of death was not suspicious, but an autopsy would be conducted.

Sources said the Le's associates asked the three female suspects to retrieve drugs from the flat. Le moved in only two months ago, they added.
