Ricky Wong earnings rise 230pc to $19.9m

Hong Kong Television Network (1137) chief executive and vice-chairman Ricky Wong Wai-kay received emoluments totaling HK$19.9 million last year, 230 percent more than a year ago, after HKTVmall recorded a profit for the first time last year.

Wong's salary, services fee, allowances and in-kind benefits amounted to HK$7.89 million, and he also received a discretionary bonus of HK$12 million.

The bonus was twice as much as his full-year base salary of HK$6 million in 2019. Wong's base monthly salary has risen 33 percent to HK$800,000 since January 1, and his annual base salary is HK$9.6 million.

The remuneration of three directors also doubled.

Paul Cheung Chi-kin, the chairman of the online mall and the cousin of Wong, received a remuneration of HK$9.23 million last year, up 40 percent, the least among the directors.

Alice Wong Nga-lai's remuneration jumped 2.2 times to HK$8.17 million, Lau Chi-kong's remuneration rose 2.26 times to HK$8.49 million, and Zhou Huijing's remuneration doubled to HK$8.76 million.

The total remuneration of the board of directors rose 159 percent to HK$55.22 million.

Wong had a 40.06 percent stake or 365 million shares in the company as of end-December.
