HKT Trust and HKT (6823) and a services provider for property managers, Worldwide Executive, will install more than 4,000 Internet of Things sensors at over 200 properties managed by real estate service firm JLL across Hong Kong, including Grade A commercial buildings, shopping malls, industrial buildings and residential complexes.

Installation is already underway and will be completed in 100 buildings by the end of June 2020. The IoT sensors are being installed in different areas of the buildings to monitor temperature, humidity, air quality, security or water leakage, and data will be captured and visualized in a centralized digital dashboard.

Chung Chi-hung, head of property management at JLL in Hong Kong, said, "This empowers our operations to improve occupant experience, optimize cost and make swifter decisions and actions."

Meanwhile, Henderson Land Group is planning to establish Life-Lab, a platform to develop the Artificial Intelligence of Things for healthcare and smart energy.

AIoT is a combination of artificial intelligence technologies with the Internet of Things. The platform will provide an open-source chip platform for technology teams to develop AIoT products and solutions.

"Life-Lab would help Hong Kong to become the center of technology innovation for the Greater Bay Area," co-chairman of Henderson Land Group Lee Ka-kit said.
