Shenzhen store draws HK buyers

The Xiaomi (1810) flagship store in Shenzhen has attracted crowds, with half of the people from Hong Kong.

The only flagship store in Guangdong province has been open for about two years, and has seen sales growth in air conditioners and washing machines since the company introduced major appliances into its product line last year, said a staff member. The shop serves 2,000 customers on workdays, and the number can reach 6,000 at weekends.

Meanwhile, Huawei, is to launch Huawei Pay available at 40,000 sales points in Hong Kong. Users can link their Tap & Go UnionPay card with the mobile payment application, which will enable them to settle payments in retail stores, including 7-11, Sogo and Mannings by putting their phone in front of the cashier sensor and passing the fingerprint identification.
