Sweets for your sweetie

Sweeten your special day with a selection of Valentine's Day edible delights.

Inspired by the classic checkers cake, Lady M has launched a Black Pink Checkers cake, exclusive to Hong Kong. The cake's distinctive pattern is composed of charcoal chocolate and vanilla sponge, all fused with strawberry cream cheese frosting.

Available in all branches as individual slices (HK$68) or as a 6-inch cake (HK$450), without pre-order for today only. After today, customers will need to order three days in advance for the cake.

Instead of just one cake, Vive Cake Boutique has introduced a three-cake collection, Pamper Me Valentine, available until March 14. Be My Valentine (HK$880) is topped off with a bouquet of fresh red and white roses. Bubblegum pink buttercream covers the Love Remedy (HK$930), bedecked with sugar hearts, golden macarons and buttercream flowers. Kisses & Hugs (HK$480), made with Vive's earl grey cake and earl grey cream cheese, is decorated with candied hearts as well as a chocolate glaze dripped along the edges.

The Cakery, collaborating with Grown Alchemist, also presents a limited-edition Valentine's cake (HK$888), available until February 29.

Decorated with silver foil, hearts and red lips, the reduced-sugar lychee wine-soaked sponge is filled with watermelon jelly and frosted with black charcoal buttercream. Upon purchase, guests will receive a Grown Alchemist Lip-Locked lip balm.

At Palm Court, five mini cakes (HK$78 each) have been designed for the occasion. Options include the Elegance pistachio frangipane baked tart, Ms Strawberry roll cake and Amour, made with chocolate mousse and berry confit, dark chocolate, raspberry ganache and chocolate sable. Or think big with a limited-edition chocolate showpiece Love is in the Air (HK$328). All are available until February 16.

Apart from cake, the day is also about chocolate. Marks & Spencer is launching a premium selection of chocolate boxes. Date Night Of Dreams (HK$329) contains an assortment of decadent treats. I Heart You chocolates (HK$59) and Go Gooey Hearts (HK$39) are the ideal size for sharing, while Loved Up Lollies (HK$24) and Whole Lotta Love Heart (HK$10) are must-haves for those looking for something pocket-sized.

Want something a little different? The hand-decorated chocolate Love Button (HK$99) is finished with raspberry pieces.

Fans of delicate packaging can't miss the Fortnum & Mason Valentine's Heart chocolate selection box (HK$538), which presents a series of heart-shaped boxes, intricately detailed with gold patterns.

The store also offers a vegan-friendly choice, Valentine's raspberry and vodka chocolate thins (HK$228), handmade with the finest Belgian dark chocolate. The ganache is enriched with Fortnum's own English barley vodka and dusted with natural freeze-dried raspberries.

But Fortnum's true love has always been tea. To celebrate Valentine's Day, a personalized tea blending service is open to couples to choose ingredients to customize their own brew. Customers can also take away a seasonal St Valentine's Tea (HK$248), a blend that marries white tea buds with rose petals and hibiscus.

If you are looking for an alternative, Sugarfina aims to make it the sweetest day of the year. The Love Letter Candy Collection contains nine boxes - including the new You're my Sunshine Sour Rainbows (HK$78) and You're my Sweetheart Strawberry Daiquiri Hearts ($88). Buy them separately or pick a couple for the two-piece Candy Mailbox (HK$198).

Lovebirds can also enjoy quality time with the brand-new But First Cocktails Kit (HK$198). The DIY sets are available in three flavors: Italian Spritz, with a freshly squeezed orange taste, Lychee Mojito and Strawberry Daiquiri, with a strawberry flavor and a twist of lime. Each kit contains cocktail gummies, a bottle of cocktail syrup and a recipe card demonstrating how to create the perfect beverage for your valentine.

If you prefer coffee, the Starbucks Valentine's Day Series drinkware collection can add a romantic touch to the daily coffee routine with its romantic elements of hearts and cherry patterns in pink shades.
