It's Cheese-mas at Playt at The Park Lane Hong Kong in Causeway Bay for its annual festive buffet (from HK$518) until January 1.
A rich choice of cheese specialties ranges from traditional to East meets West. The European favorite scallop cheese chowder in cheesy puff pastry uses cheddar in a way that elevates the crispiness and crunchiness of the puff, and the spaghetti with black truffle and creamy sauce is cooked with a extra creamy homemade cheese sauce.
Chef de cuisine Matt Chan's favorite is the cheesy lobster noodles. "The cheesy lobster noodles are an all-time favorite for Hongkongers, and I'm sure cheese fans will be crazy about it," he said.
The cheese fondue at the live station comes with more than 12 dips, including vegetable and fruit, French bread and sourdough alongside the chef's favorite raclette of melted semi-hard Alpine cow milk cheese.
On Kowloon side, The Royal Garden, J's Bar Bistro's new seafood cheese fondue afternoon tea set (HK$498) features a creamy cheese fondue and a range of sweet delights.
The hearty cheese fondue's melted Emmental, Parmesan and mozzarella is perked up with a splash of kirsch liqueur and white wine. For dipping, there are seafood skewers, including Hokkaido scallops, prawns and salmon, as well as a vegetable combination.
Those with a sweet tooth will be spoilt for choice, with Japanese desserts like chestnut cake and green tea panna cotta, as well as the freshly-made signature J's strawberry souffle.
Featuring a Japanese cheese fondue, The Astor at Eaton HK in Jordan offers an afternoon tea buffet (HK$228) that is served alongside sashimi bowls and over 40 yoshoku and izakaya dishes which are available on weekends and public holidays in December.
Customers can choose between the classic fondue and a more indulgent option. The classic fondue is a mix of three cheeses - Japanese mozzarella, Parmesan and Emmental - Hokkaido milk and white wine.
Over 20 dippers are on offer, including classic narutomaki fish cake, chikuwa, mochi, artisan bread, salami and vegetables.
End on a sweet note at the plentiful dessert counter, laden with Japanese cheese tarts, matcha cheesecake, red bean matcha cake rolls and purple sweet potato tarts.
