Pan-democrats and their supporters said they chipped in toward raising bail money for Central and Western district council chairwoman Cheng Lai-king, who was arrested for sharing a post about a policeman who allegedly shot an Indonesian reporter in the eye with an unidentified projectile.

A short video clip circulated on social media shows money being exchanged by Democratic Party lawmakers and supporters outside the Kwai Chung police station, before Cheng was released on HK10,000 bail yesterday.

Party lawmaker Ted Hui Chi-fung told The Standard that bail was initially set at HK$5,000 but later raised to HK10,000, prompting them to seek the extra amount from supporters.
