Students should broaden their perspectives and pay attention to the development of China, Chief Executive Carrie Lam Cheng Yuet-ngor said at the closing ceremony of a military youth summer camp.
Former chief executive Tung Chee-hwa, liaison office director Wang Zhimin and Major General Chen Daoxiang, commander of the Hong Kong garrison of the People's Liberation Army, also attended yesterday.
Lam said under the unique advantages of the one country, two systems principle, Hong Kong benefits from opportunities brought by the rapid development of China.
She told the teenagers to expand their views, keep a close eye on the development of China and ensure they make contributions to Hong Kong, the mainland and the world.
She added that teenagers are the driving force of the development of Hong Kong, and insisted that the SAR government will do its utmost to support their growth.
She also called on the teenagers who participated in the camp to incorporate what they have learned in schools and share it with classmates to get more youngsters participating in meaningful activities.
