Masked men bashed a company executive with iron bars in a bloody attack in the middle of Central.
The senior executive of a listed company was ambushed in the car park of Cheung Kong Center around noon yesterday.
Police said a 42-year-old man was clubbed. They did not name the victim but it is understood he is Gao Feng, vice chairman of mainland energy company Sino Resources Group, which trades in Hong Kong as Sino Gp.
Gao had just parked and was leaving the car park when the men approached him from behind and struck him with iron bars.
Though injured, Gao managed to run back to his car and drive away. The attackers fled in a seven-seater vehicle.
Gao called the police and was taken to Queen Mary Hospital with injuries to his head, left eye, left arm and right knee.
One of the attackers is said to be about 1.65 meters tall and was wearing a black shirt, while the other is about 1.7 meters tall and was wearing a white shirt. Both were described as slim. The anti-triad squad in Central is investigating the attack.
The firm's share price rose 2percent even as the Hang Seng Index plunged 215 points.
