Invictus School Hong Kong offers quality and affordable through-train international education, from Kindergarten 1 to Year 13

Invictus School Hong Kong was established in 2019, with its kindergarten and primary school situated in Tseung Kwan O, and its secondary school in Chai Wan following in 2020. With both locales being home to plenty of expatriate and local families in Hong Kong, the school is quickly becoming the school of choice for discerning parents in the city.

Founded to provide quality and affordable education, Invictus utilises rigorous internationally renowned curricula, to help each child develop a spirit of lifelong learning and excellence.

Taking pride in its high-quality and accessible education, Mr. Harvey, Invictus Secondary School’s Founding Principal, says “Invictus aims to nurture individuals in innovative and inspiring ways to become joyous lifelong learners who contribute to a better tomorrow”.

Catering for children in K1 to Year 6 (ages 3-11), the modern campus housing Invictus Kindergarten and Invictus School (primary) offers an English / Mandarin bilingual immersion programme.

Fiona Chan (Founding Principal Invictus Kindergarten) points out that it is one of the few in Hong Kong to use traditional characters for Chinese. “Learning through both languages, in a nurturing and culturally aware environment, is a key part of the Invictus approach”, she says.

The learning journey takes children through the International Early Years Curriculum (IEYC), International Primary Curriculum (IPC), and Singapore Maths programmes, where each child has his or her own next steps. Chris Jackson (Founding Principal Invictus School) sums it up by saying, “We aim to make the curriculum fit the child, not make the child fit the curriculum”.

The newly renovated secondary school campus for Years 7 - 13 (ages 11-18), including high-tech and environmentally friendly laboratories, a spacious performance space, and designated drama, music, and art rooms, offers the Cambridge Curriculum. Beginning with a core foundation of subjects in Year 7, the programme then offers flexibility in subject choices and student strengths, leading up to IGCSEs in Year 11 and A-Levels in Year 13. As in the kindergarten and primary sections, the focus is always on the individual as a learner. “We have a student tracking system to support the individual needs of students, ensuring that they are on track to achieve their predicted academic grades,” says Mr. Harvey. The extra-curricular activities are built around student choice.

Invictus is a through-train school allowing students to start in Kindergarten following through into Primary and onto Secondary. The initial application for any year level is made online without charge, and families are welcomed and encouraged to visit the schools to find out more. Children are invited in for an assessment as part of the admissions process with the Kindergarten and Primary school giving an age-appropriate language, academic, and social development assessment. In the Secondary school a more formal admissions test is used, providing a parent feedback report. Applications and enrolments take place all year-round.

Looking forward, all three principals share that the school will continue to emphasise the student-focused approach. “For us, holistic education doesn’t just mean a wide range of subjects, but to grow the whole child and encourage them to think critically, creatively, and to be a part of society,” they conclude.
