Parade for Celebration of the Year of the Pig

This year, the Macao Government Tourism Office (MGTO) has prepared a series of captivating celebrations for residents and visitors. Among them, the 'Parade for Celebration of the Year of the Pig' is a major highlight, and will be staged on the 3rd and 6th day of Lunar New Year in the central and northern districts.

The Parade will be themed 'Return home for Chinese New Year'. Infused with gastronomic elements, 18 floats will represent various Chinese New Year dishes that symbolize auspiciousness and good fortune, bestowing blessings on residents and visitors while showing off the glamour and richness of Macao's gastronomy and traditional culture to the world, setting off from Sai Van Lake Square before Macau Tower at 8 p.m., marching along Avenida Dr. Sun Yat-Sen on Macao Peninsula until the destination at Macao Science Center.

The New Year begins with a bang!

Aside from the dazzling floats on the 3rd day of Lunar New Year which are joined by a total of 32 local and international performance groups including Audrey from Japan, Street Circus from the Netherlands, and Sparkling Drums from United Kingdom, there will also be mesmerizing fireworks that will accompany the following day. Celebrities Bob Lam, Harriet Yeung and Germano Guilherme will be the emcees at Sai Van Lake Square while Stephen Chan, Kevin Cheng and Chan U Ian will also be present at designated performance zones.

Such a festive occasion warrants the best possible line-up, and Hong Kong and Macao singers including MC Jin, Terence Chui, Vivian Chan and Germano Guilherme will deliver their fantastic performances, which will happen right before the firework display at 9:45 p.m. which will last 15 minutes, giving spectators an incredible evening.

A never-ending extravaganza

The celebrations don't stop here, on 6th day of Lunar New Year, there will be another float parade and a finale show of cultural performances. The float parade will commence with a kick-off ceremony at Rua Norte do Patane at 8 p.m. by celebrities Germano Guilherme, Stephen Chan and Renee Li. 18 floats will cruise along Avenida do Conselheiro Borja, Estrada do Arco, Estrada da Areia Preta, Avenida de Venceslau de Morais, Rua Quatro do Bairro da Areia Preta, Avenida da Longevidade, and Rua do Mercado de Iao Hon, finishing at Iao Hon Market Garden where artists and singers from Macao and Hong Kong including Raymond Cho will end the show on a high note.
