“If I am given a chance by someone who sees my value, I will be of great use.” That was what Lam told her interviewer Jacky Leung – who is now her supervisor and her talent scout – on her first interview at the job.
Leung, senior sales manager of 3SUPREME with over 20 years in telecommunications, initially hesitated over Lam’s lack of industry experience. But her determination to prove her own worth won him over.
“Lam is full of motivation, willing to learn and endure hardship. She would go as far as taking care of customers’ inquiries in the middle of the night,” Leung said. In just two years, he has watched her grow rapidly, becoming more mature in handling complaints and fostering colleague relationships – and he is proud of her.
Chan, meanwhile, once faced a career slump. During the pandemic, business was slow and he worried constantly about sales. His supervisor advised him to be proactive and reach out to potential customers – advice that reshaped his service mindset for good. Now a supervisor, Chan is nicknamed “the Poker Face” – not for being cold, but for his uncompromising commitment to quality service. He expects his team to prepare in advance and proactively engage customers.
While he worked at the Harbour City branch in Tsim Sha Tsui, where his team frequently welcomed cruise passengers, Chan and his colleagues kept themselves abreast of the schedule of cruise arrivals, including where the passengers may come from, so as to prepare for conversation starters in advance. “It’s always better to take things in your hand rather than waiting for customers to come to you!” he said.
Behind every talent there is someone who is willing to guide; behind every outstanding salesperson is undying passion.
