Drug trafficking ring busted, $22m in narcotics seized by HK, Singapore authorities

In a joint operation between Hong Kong police and Singapore’s Central Narcotics Bureau (CNB), a transnational drug trafficking syndicate was targeted at Singapore’s Changi International Airport on July 29.

Authorities arrested five women—including a 21-year-old from Hong Kong and four foreign nationals—after discovering suspected cocaine and cannabis in their possession. 

According to Singapore’s CNB, officers observed the Hong Kong woman and a Kenyan national engaging in a suspected drug transaction before intercepting them and seizing the illicit substances. 

Three other foreign women were also stopped and found carrying drugs in their luggage.

In total, authorities confiscated 26.9 kilograms of suspected cocaine and 10 grams of suspected cannabis, with an estimated street value of HK$22 million.

All five suspects are currently detained on drug trafficking charges. Investigations are ongoing.
