Platform gap LEDs and auto gates to enhance safety for East Rail Line passengers

Additional safety measures will be implemented at several MTR East Rail Line stations, including steel plates with LEDs, to remind passengers of the platform gap. 

The rail giant said platforms at Lo Wu, Mong Kok East, and University stations have wider gaps between the train and the platform, which needs extra measures to ensure the safety of passengers.

There will also be black and yellow caution stripes along the edge of the platform.

The installation of the automatic platform gates at the three stations is expected to be completed next year.

The MTR said nine stations have completed the installation of the automatic platform gates, with Kowloon Tong station expected to finish the work by the end of this year.
