A worker was pinned down by a vehicle and fell unconscious while working at an auto repair shop on Thursday morning.
Police received a report at around 9 am that a South Asian worker, aged in his 30s, was pinned under a cab in a garage on Fung Yip Street, Chai Wan.
Sources said the worker was using a hydraulic lift to lift the cab to a height of about 1.8 meters to remove the wheels, when the cab suddenly lost balance and shifted towards the worker, crushing the worker in the head.
He regained consciousness after resuscitation performed by paramedics on the scene. He was then sent to the Pamela Youde Nethersole Eastern Hospital for further treatment.
Police identified the case as an industrial accident, while the Labor Department sent officers to the scene to investigate the cause.
