Repair worker injured after being shoved down lift shaft by deliveryman

A repair worker was hospitalized after a deliveryman accidentally pushed him down a lift shaft in Cheung Sha Wan on Thursday afternoon.

Around 2 pm today, the police received a report that the colleague of a lift repair worker at Hoi Shing House in Hoi Tat Estate fell down the lift shaft together with the deliveryman after being accidentally pushed down.

The repair worker sustained a head injury and was bleeding and trapped in the shaft for a while before managing to get to a safer space on his own. He was then taken to the Caritas Medical Centre for medical attention.

The deliveryman did not suffer any injuries and later left the area on his own.

The police are currently investigating the accident.

After the incident, the building management suspended the service of the involved lift and cordoned off the area to prevent residents from getting close.

A notice at the scene indicated that the lift was scheduled for emergency repairs and would be out of service starting from 3 pm today until the repairs have been completed.
