The Hong Kong Jockey Club (HKJC) Charities Trust has donated HK$10 million to support the Hong Kong Youth Festival (youthfest@HK) that features various activities aimed at bringing young people together and inspiring them for a hopeful future.
A key highlight is the inaugural Youth Development Summit, which brings together youth groups from Hong Kong, the mainland, ASEAN, and overseas to promote mutual learning and inspire a global vision for youth.
With the theme “Set Sail for New Horizons”, the Summit was the feature event of the opening day of the Festival held on Saturday (Aug 10). Over 1,000 young people were in attendance.
Speakers and panelists at the event included Chief Executive John Lee Ka-chiu, other officials, representatives from the aviation, technology, healthcare, and finance industries, as well as representatives from youth organizations, sports, and charity sectors. Notable attendees also included the gold medalist from the Paris Olympics, Vivian Kong Man-wai.
Together they shared their personal experiences as well as discussed a range of youth development topics.
This marks the second year the Trust has supported youthfest@HK, following a HK$10 million donation for the inaugural Festival in 2023, which attracted approximately 200,000 young people to its 200 activities.
