A truck driver was arrested after being suspected of jumping a red light, which caused a traffic accident that injured seven people in Fanling on Friday morning.

At 9.17 am today, a KMB bus on route 273A was traveling along Yat Ming Road towards Wah Ming Road, while another truck for cleaning mud was traveling along Pak Wo Road towards Sheung Shui.
The two vehicles drove towards the junction, and it is suspected that the truck jumped the red light and rammed into the left side of the bus.
Due to the impact, the bus lost control and crashed into the pedestrian island, destroying the railings and traffic lights in the area.
A 59-year-old female pedestrian on the pedestrian island, along with five bus passengers aged 35 to 79, suffered back, neck and waist injuries.
The 63-year-old female driver of the KMB, surnamed Wong, was also injured, and all seven, who remained conscious, were taken to the hospital for medical attention.
After preliminary investigation, the 63-year-old truck driver, surnamed Lai, was suspected of causing grievous bodily harm by dangerous driving.
Lai is currently remanded in police custody to assist in the investigation.
