More than 240,000 attendees were counted during the first four days of the "Year of the Dragon Kwun Tong Night Bazaar," which is the first large-scale outdoor activity organized by government, business, and civil entities at the district "Freespace."
The Urban Renewal Authority (URA) managing director, Wai Chi-sing, said Sunday that the visitor number showed the "Freespace" can gather people flow, inject vitality, and enhance vibes in Kwun Tong city center.
He continued that there were several inquiries and reservations for the activity venues in just over a month, and lots of events will be held at the "Freespace" in the next six months.
Wai mentioned in a blog post that URA is optimizing land use in the area to enable the "freespace" to cope with hosting various events.
The projects include installing Hong Kong's first public toilet constructed with aluminum structures and 'Modular Integrated Construction' modules and building a 48- to 72-meter-wide pedestrian walkway, Wai added.
