Cables short-circuit and ignite To Kwa Wan ground-floor store

Police were alerted to To Kwa Wan on Friday morning after a store caught fire. No injuries were reported.

At 8.33 am today, a store located on the ground floor of a building at 234 Ma Tau Wai Road, located in To Kwa Wan, started to smoke and caught fire.

Firefighters received multiple reports and were alerted to the scene, deploying one water jet and extinguishing the fire in around 10 minutes.

During the fire, the residents living on the upper floors evacuated on their own, and no injuries were reported.

After preliminary investigation, it is suspected that the fire was caused by a short circuit in the cables on the walls.
