Police warned crowds not to gather in Causeway Bay and once sent officers into shopping mall Fashion Walk.
The yellow flag was raised on Great George Street at around 4pm, warning people against breaching the law.
A great number of police officers were mobilized to patrol in different districts since noon. Police also cordoned off Victoria Park and stopped and searched citizens who were wearing black shirts.
Around 4pm, officers displayed the yellow flag on Great George Street, warning people they were in breach of the law as large crowd gathered in Causeway Bay.
Some officers also entered shopping mall Fashion Walk and performed searches, ordering crowd at the scene to leave immediately.
Around 4.40pm, officers in Fashion Walk suddenly started running and chasing after someone.
Police ran through clothing store Y-3 and stopped a boy on Paterson Street. The boy in blue shirt and green shorts, carrying a paper bag was stopped and surrounded by officers.
More officers arrived and separate reporters from the kid with orange tape.
It was understood that the boy was later released after being searched by the police. Other pedestrians kept him company as he sat at the stairs of the shopping mall. The boy then left the scene accompanied by others.
So far police arrested three men and two women for misconduct, obstructing police officers and failing to providing identification documents. One of the arrested was Alexandra Wong Fung-yiu, better known as Grandma Wong, an activist of the pro-democracy camp.
Wong was spotted waving the British national flag outside Cinema City JP. Officers took Wong to a tent located on Great George Street before bringing her on the police vehicle.
