Film festival focuses on region

The first ASEAN Film Festival is being held in Hong Kong from Friday to August 19 with the aim of fostering cross-cultural understanding by showing the diversity of the region.

Over 600 local students and young people together with ASEAN students in the SAR are being invited to 21 screenings during the two weeks, and a sharing sessions by directors and cast members will take place to enliven the experience.

The festival, a non-profit initiative, has been made possible through collaboration between the Hong Kong-ASEAN Foundation, consulates offices of Association of Southeast Asian Nations and many supporting partners.

Co-presented by M+ and the Asia Society, the festival will screen a curated selection of films by some of Southeast Asia's most eminent filmmakers at venues including M+ Cinema, Miller Theater at the Asia Society and Olympian City.
