Police said they recovered some items like razor blades and scissors from the site of violent clashes overnight outside the Legco complex, RTHK reports.
Eight policemen were injured in the confrontations that followed a mass protest march against the extradition bill.
Senior superintendent Lee Kwai-wah said 19 people have been arrested in connection with the clashes so far – but added that more arrests are likely as officers continue to gather evidence.
They are alleged to have taken part in an illegal assembly outside the Legislative Council and in Wan Chai.
Police eventually cornered more than 350 people who they believe had taken over part of Gloucester Road for a brief period overnight outside the old Wan Chai Police Station. They were released, but only after leaving their details with police.
“They are quite young, over 81 percent [are] under 25 years old. I would highlight that, also, some of the things left behind from them is quite alarming. Including some so-called the weapon, including some knives, some scissors and all the things,” said Lee.
