Giant python devours cat in Tung Chung, second of its kind in half a month
Local | 2 Jun 2023 4:36 pmA four-meter-long python was seen devouring a cat early Thursday morning in Tung Chung as a snake catcher was called to the scene by police.
Police said they received a report at 5.16 am on Thursday that a python was spotted by the bushes on a sidewalk opposite Yu Tai Court in Tung Chung.
As officers arrived they cordoned off the area and called a snake catcher to the scene. The giant python was later successfully captured by the snake catcher.
A photo that shows the python surrounding and tightening the black and white cat with its body was posted online on Friday morning and the netizen expected it was the same python that devoured another cat back on May 19.
It was understood that the cat was named “Milky” and belonged to a coffee shop in Ma Wan Sun Tsuen.
This also marked the second case of pets being eaten by python in Tung Chung in half a month.
The first case, occurred around 6 pm on May 19, saw a giant python devoured a cat on Pa Mei Road in Ma Wan Sun Tsuen. Yet, after hunting down the prey, it disappeared before the snake catcher arrived.
