The LeaveHomeSafe mandate will cover all restaurants and specified premises, including fitness centers and cinemas, starting December 9.

Other measures including the group gathering cap and mask-wearing requirement will be extended for two weeks until December 8, a government announcement released on Tuesday evening.

The app mandate will cover all restaurants regardless of their operation mode, as well as premises specified under the Prevention and Control of Disease (Requirements and Directions) (Business and Premises) Regulation.

Specified premises include bars and pubs, cinemas, amusement game centers, beauty parlors, bathhouses, partyrooms, nightclubs, karaoke establishments, mahjong-tin kau premises and cruise ships.

Starting December, the maximum capacity of passengers on cruise ships will increase from 50 percent to 75 percent.

Workers are required to to complete a vaccination course, otherwise they will have to undergo Covid testing every two weeks and samples must be taken through combined nasal and throat swabs by professionals.

“The government will continue to review and implement additional measures to increase the overall vaccination rate, including the possibility of extending the scope of a 'vaccine bubble', and closely monitor the vaccination enhancement measures adopted in the mainland and overseas,” a spokesperson said.
