A 40-year-old man who stabbed three staffers at Mr Bakery at Hoi Lai Shopping Centre in Cheung Sha Wan this morning has turned himself in.

The police received a report at about 7am that three employees at the bakery were attacked. They were sent to Caritas Medical Centre for treatment.

Sources said the attacker has mental illness record, and has been following up with his conditions at a public hospital for more than 10 years.

It was understood that the man went to the bakery to buy bread, but he was enraged when he heard the shopkeepers discuss something about mental illness.

He then took a knife from his apartment and return to the bakery to commit the crime.

Blood stains could be seen on the floor. The knife involved in the attack was also left at the scene.

The injured include two women and one man. They were a 60-year-old worker injured on her forehead, a 63-year-old worker with her face wounded, and a 39-year-old baker receiving arm injuries.

Another staff escaped the attack as she was at the washroom during the incident. She quoted her injured colleagues saying that the two female staffers were forced into a room by the attacker, who stabbed their heads with a knife.

"The baker rushed into the room to help upon hearing them. His arm was chopped to the bone," the staff said. "It's all thanks to him, or the two female staffers may be killed."

Sham Shui Po police are investigating.
