A 31-year-old chef admitted splashing drain cleaner onto his lover's husband because the lover told him to do so.

The woman wanted to have revenge on her husband because he first cheated on her before she had an affair with chef Luk Chi-kan, the High Court was told.

Luk pleaded guilty in High Court today for splashing corrosive liquid on his lover's husband on November 27, 2019 with the intention to cause him grievous harm.

Judge Andrew Chan Hing-wai heard that the chef got to know Ho Mei-yan in 2018 and they got into an affair.

Ho told Luk that she wanted to get revenge on her husband and instructed him on the drain cleaner attack. Luk followed through with the plan, taking a taxi to Fu Ning Garden and waited for the husband to return home. Some of the liquid splashed onto Luk himself.

Once he spotted the man, he splashed a cup of corrosive acid on him, escaped the scene in a taxi and went to have a drink with friends.

The husband went to seek help from a nearby convenience store, getting water to wash the drain cleaner. He was sent to Tseung Kwan O Hospital for treatment.

Luk turned himself in two days after the incident at Wong Tai Sin police station. Under police caution, he admitted to splashing the liquid and said he did it out of love for Ho.

The case was adjourned until October 4.
