Eleven customers were fined HK$5,000 for not using the LeaveHomeSafe app at bars at Tsim Sha Tsui last night.

The police conducted surprised inspections of two bars located on Carnarvon Road and Chatham Road South respectively. The customers fined consisted of nine men and two women aged between 25 to 35.

In addition, the bars' owners were found to have not put up a QR code for the app. The owner of one of the bars, 25, was charged with breaching Chapter 599F of the Prevention and Control of Disease Regulation, and the owner of the other bar, 32, was arrested and detained for further enquiries.

Bar customers are currently required to use the LeaveHomeSafe app and receive at least one dose of a Covid-19 vaccine. Bar owners who do not comply with these regulations face a HK$50,000 fine and six months in prison.
