Lee Kum Kee Group Chairman Lee Man-tat passes away at 91

The third generation of soy sauce company Lee Kam Kee, Lee Man-tat, died at the age of 91 on Monday. 

The soy sauce company said Lee died peacefully accompanied by his family members, according to an obituary posted on the group’s website today.

“Mr. Lee was an inspirational leader with a unique and forward-looking vision. He constantly brought new insight and momentum to the Group and successfully transformed Lee Kum Kee into a world-renowned sauce and condiment brand,” the obituary wrote.

The group also said Lee was committed to promoting Chinese culinary culture and health regimen and diversified the Group into a sustainable enterprise.

Lee once ranked third in the Forbes Hong Kong rich list in 2019. He ranked sixth in the 2021 list, with his net wealth estimated to reach HK$17.4 billion.
