Tsuen Wan car crash sees one truck driver dead, another arrested

A fatal car crash involving a taxi and two trucks took place in the early hours today in Tsuen Wan, in which saw a truck driver dead and the other truck driver arrested.

A taxi was heading to Tsuen Wan on Tuen Mun Road around 3am this morning. The driver, Fung, 38, suddenly lost control and the taxi hit the curb and stopped on the lane. He suffered minor injury and reported the incident to the police.

However two truck from behind soon drove near the scene. A light goods vehicle driving along the lane could not stop in time and took a hard right. The turn caused the truck to collide into a medium goods vehicle on the adjacent lane.

The driver of the medium goods vehicle, Chan, 25, was found unconscious and trapped within the truck. Multiple wounds were also spotted on his body. Firemen soon arrived at the scene. They rescued him and rushed him to Princess Margaret Hospital, still he was later certified dead at 5.11am.

Two passengers on the two trucks, as well as Fung, were sent to Yan Chai Hospital.

Police later arrested the driver of the light goods truck for causing death by dangerous driving. He was remanded for questioning.
