An indemnity fund established to compensate those who suffer from complications following Covid-19 vaccination has granted a total of HK$450,000 to three cases, including one suffering from facial paralysis.

The indemnity fund has received a total of 74 applications as of June 10. Among those cases, three passed away while the others suffered from adverse medical conditions.

The three cases whose applications were granted included a case of anaphylaxis or severe, potentially life-threatening allergic reaction. Another suffered from acute peripheral facial paralysis, and the third required hospitalization due to adverse events after vaccination.

Another 58 applications are still being processed. Eleven applications were denied, as an expert committee decided the cases were irrelevant with vaccination.

One of the applications was denied by the fund as there was no long term or permanent bodily harm done.

A total of 149 cases involving adverse events following immunization were reported to the Department of Health in the last week as of Sunday. No death was reported among the cases.

The latest vaccination rate of Hong Kong stood at 26.5 percent, and around 1.74 million citizens have gotten at least one dose of Covid-19 vaccines.
